NEXOTUR.com / The award EDEN (European Destinations of Excellence) has gone to the Natural Park of Delta del Ebro, located in Tarragona, outpacing the rest of domestic and international destinations. In this edition, devoted to 'Tourism in protected natural areas', have submitted ten English destinations, as well as others located in the Czech Republic, Netherlands and Poland.
The Valuation Committee, chaired by the director general of the Tourism Institute of Spain (TURESPAÑA), Antonio Bernabe, has opted for this natural park "the creation and development of a tourism product based on the recovery, conservation and enhancement of natural resources in their territory, respecting the principles of environmental sustainability, economic and cultural development ". The next edition of EDEN will be devoted to 'Water tourism' , including both inland and marine and tourism resources.
EDEN Awards, Community Executive initiative which aims to promote models of sustainable tourism development, start-ups in 2006. The EDEN was developed around a annual theme chosen by the European Commission together with the ministries or other public entities. The objective pursuing is to promote destinations where economic growth is aimed at ensuring the social, cultural and environmental aspects of tourism in a particular destination.
