Hi
I'm going to talk about a personal experience, as always, related to the Vojta method (commonly pronounced "method Voit"). For that you have landed on this site without knowing what it is, I will say that basically is a motor neuron stimulation method used primarily (though not exclusively) in children with some type of neurological involvement that leads to a restriction of normal motor development at that is, that causes a disability can not move, move or walk normally (from small asymmetries in the movement to severe problems engines).
The method is based on exercises which often make parents on children affected consisting placed in certain positions blocking their movements while stimulating certain points just cause movement. With this stimulation is intended that the nervous system affected in some way, to find another way to generate muscle movements that produce the affected area.
My little daughter is now 1 ½ years. Born with difficult labor and spent the first 15 days in the ICU fighting to survive. Before leaving the hospital in final testing reported that they had an area of \u200b\u200bthe brain affected by stroke. Leaving the heavy workload involved in this case sentimental side and now seeing the issue in perspective I tell you that we raised to the affected area was not related (a priori) with intelligence but with the motor, which could represent motor problems, asymmetries, difficulties in fine motor skills (such as picking up small objects or buttoning a button, etc). We presented the Vojta method, the exercises they taught us and we started with it soon and that the importance of this method is done as soon as possible when the child's brain is beginning to form connections at neural stimulation to get the nervous system to create different ways to achieve the same common goals and where possible mitigate the effects of neurological damage.
The truth is that we took some getting used to the exercises and the poor, who had already suffered enough in the hospital, spent all his time crying a lot of exercises. As I say the child is locked in one position and it stimulates the movement which is not pleasant but not painful. It is especially uncomfortable.
Gradually, we could be seeing that certain asymmetries that were clearly in the surveys and the exercises themselves were disappearing. Shortly by little we saw a clear improvement and advancement also a cognitive level (in this case is not affected) which exceeded the average normal children. I can now say that walking (like walking babies his age), is starting to talk like children his age, and has an excellent fine motor skills, handling small objects with both hands better than expected at their age.
To all of you who are asking parents to use or stop using this method, I encourage you to go forward. For me the results have been spectacular, although it might seem a little torture a baby, for example, I assure you it is not so, babies and children dissociate the exercise of Vojta perfectly with the relationship with parents and a few days, a few minutes after the exercises, laughing and with a totally normal.
And much courage if you are in a situation that requires this type of therapy!
I leave a couple of links to delve deeper into the topic:
